From the Executive Office 2018, ACHIEVING OUR VISION A t TPDCo, we simply can’t afford to perish due to a lack of vision, as such we decided to start the new year on the appropriate note with the 2018 Visioning Conference. The obvious interest that each person displayed is a reminder that for many of you, the roles you occupy are taken seriously. The input provided indicates that you believe that we have a responsibility to continue working towards creating a destination that surpasses expectations con- sistently. With further improvements and, if we continue to work at a high standard, we will enjoy our island home even more. The conference set the pace for the remainder of the year as we continue to make significant contributions to the growth and success of the tourism sector. I have great hopes for the year and believe we will achieve even more with such a competent staff. I am pleased to welcome our new staff members who will join us on this fulfilling journey, which I am sure, will allow you to experience personal and professional growth. The road I must say has many bumpy parts, but as a team we always ensure that we give those areas the attention it requires, making it easier for others who decide to join us on this path. And we are grateful for our veterans, Allasandra “Sandy” Chung, Beverley Price and Doreen Forrester, who no doubt helped this company to operate at top level. We will certainly miss their expert guidance and leadership, and look forward to the continuation of their legacy. The various departments are already roaring ahead: Training and the Craft unit continue to deliver many sessions to our budding and existing service providers, the projects team is producing quality results, visitor safety and experience along with the Community Awareness unit has hit the road with the cum yah sensitizations, and we couldn’t do without all the other members who procure and pro- cess funding as needed, provide tech support, and the licensing process to facilitate compliance among our service providers. With all your hardwork, I am confident that 2018 will be a highly successful year for TPDCo as we move forward with the aim to diversify and improve Jamaica’s tourism product. To paraphrase Roy T. Bennett, Remember we are limit- ed more by our vision, or lack thereof, rather than our abilities. Dr. Andrew Spencer Executive Director
