Editor’s Note We are Family When you think about it, we spend an average of 260 days each year in our work environment. That’s a lot of time. Like all families we may disagree on things, we may even have our scuffles but at the end of the day we are family. We support each other, critique each other, give wholesome advice and work towards common goals and the overall good of the family. When one member does well we all do well and vice versa. As we embark on the 2018 leg of the journey we are buoyed by our visioning conference which set the tone for the awesome accomplishments which lie ahead. But it will take the collective will, commitment, passion and hard work of all of us to achieve the awesome tasks ahead of us. The Tourism family and the larger Jamaican family are depending on us for the special role that we play in TPDCo. We invite you to delve into the pages of this month of love and Reggae edition of TPDConnect as we share some of our accomplishments: Anti- harassment sensitizations with judges; clerks of court; police officers and communities in Trelawny using the “Cum Yah” video as a springboard for discussion. We also flash back to our visioning conference which kicked off the New- Year, we meet our new Procurement Manager Donna Johnson Fowler and the 2016 TSEA individual winner Simone Folkes who shares her passion for tourism with us. Curriculum Development and ISO9001 Training are also on the agenda and are meant to make the organization more relevant, pliable, quality oriented and customer centric. Renee takes us on a binge at Chilitos inside “Delectable Diaries, we learn more about world tour guiding day and we salute our own Maxine Blake Area Representative for the Caribbean for the World Federation of Tourist Guide Association (WFTGA) We said goodbye to three special ladies who have collectively given 60 years of distinguished service to the organization. We applaud them and wish them God speed on the next leg of their journey. So family, as re-double our efforts to achieve our goals I leave you with the words of the founder of Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford “If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right.” Enjoy reading and we look forward to receiving your feedback and contribution for the next edition. One Love, Marline
