THE REASON FOR THE SEASON
As citizens of a predominantly Christian country, the focus is usually on Christ the Savior, who, as the Holy Bible
documents was crucified around this time of the year. We recognize the sacrifice, an incomparable act, only
possible by one with divine strength, to give up one’s life so that we may have eternal life and experience salvation.
Some of our Christian friends embark on Lent and ditch chicken, beef and pork for fish. Other persons try to
remove
themselves
from
the
material
things,
and
sex.
They
rely
heavily
and
focus
on humility, prayer and fasting patterning Christ when he was on Earth. Whatever you decide to give up this
Lent,
remember
the
reason
for
the
Easter
season
which
is
Christ
the
Lord.
