BUN, CHEESE & CARNIVAL
A
round the Easter season (February – April) Jamaicans are faced with heavy decisions, to eat loads of
carb, sugar filled Easter buns
that taste even more delicious around
this time of the year or resist
the temptation because the body baring carnival
season is creeping up. Ladies in particular wish to look steamy
as they adorn their bodies in jewels, and expose
(if they stick to the diet) washboard abs and toned
legs, joining the other revelers for the much
anticipated “jump up” season.
I t is a time of hard core partying, fuelled by heart
pumping Soca music. And this year, the mas bands
(Xayamaca International, Jamaica Carnival, Bacchanal
Jamaica and Xodus) are positive that Carnival 2018 will be an
unforgettable one. This has resulted
in heavy preparation for those
who make it a tradition to “jump”
In the Caribbean heat with
their crew.
T
ourism benefits from this intense
celebration, every year, devoted participants
travel to the country to indulge in all that
we have to offer, and as Jamaicans, we often
keep to our promise of high energy and a
good time. As a result, visitors pile out of
our airports, hotel rooms are booked out;
and some visit our attractions while
enjoying carnival, Jamaican style.
