Senior Center Again Named Center of Excellence by State
The Garner Senior Center in July 2024 was recertified as a Center of Excellence through 2029 by the State of North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services. The designation was the result of a fiveyear process. The Center of Excellence designation means additional annual funds for the Garner Senior Center from the State General Purpose Funding.
Groundbreaking Held for Town-Supported Affordable Housing Project
Town officials were on hand in August 2024 for the groundbreaking for the Tryon Station affordable housing project on Creech Road. The project will create 176 new apartment units for households earning up to 60 percent of the area median income. The Town provided $ 750,000 in bridge financing for the project. The new units were expected to be completed in about 18 months.
