Garner Fire-Rescue, Town Sign Merger Documents
The Town of Garner and Garner Fire-Rescue, Inc., signed closing documents to finalize their consolidation at a ceremony at Garner Town Hall on June 30, 2025, culminating a years-long process that made the nonprofit first-responder agency a Town department starting July 1, 2026. The consolidation had no impact on the cost-share agreement or methodology for determining the cost share with Wake County. There was no tax increase as a result of the unification since funding for Garner Fire-Rescue already has been a part of the Town budget.

Accreditation
The Garner Police Department reached an impressive milestone, earning advanced law enforcement national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law
Enforcement Agencies, Inc.( CALEA) for the 10th consecutive three-year period. The purpose of CALEA is to develop standards based on international best practices in public safety.
