Events trek
One of the events organized to celebrate the World Tourism Day 2017, was the discussion: Sustainability in Academic Environments. The professors invited to talk about the actions to preserve the environment were: Gisele González, Nayid Díaz and Samir Meramo.
Gisele Gonzáles is a professional in Social Sciences and has a Magister degree in Energetic Governance. She is the leader of the campaign "Un vaso al día y sin pitillo" and the research group of the Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management: Ecofriendly.
Samir Merano is a chemical engineer. He has a Magister degree in Environmental Engineering and he is a professor of the Bachelor in Industrial Engineer of Unicolombo.
Nayid Díaz is a Business Administrator and has a Magister degree in Marketing.
The importance of this space for the students and all the academic community is to remember that we are the main actor at the moment of talking about the environment preservation.
Tourism industry is one of the economic sector that may promote positive actions to develop a sustainable tourism. But it is also important that each family takes some actions such as:
Plant trees.
Use the bicycle for transportation.
Recycle the trash.
Catch the rainwater.
Reduce the Carbon Footprint.
Save electricity.
The invited professors agree that it is very important to start now taking these habits to become real environmental savers. Professors of the Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management have started avoiding the use of straws.
