K ochi has transformed itself into a platform for artistic expressions while India’s largest contemporary art event, 4th edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale has been kicked off. Kochi Biennale takes place at various destinations in and around Fort Kochi and Ernakulam will be conducted under the curatorship of the artist and critic Ms Anita Dube. The theme this year is “Possibilities for a Non-alienated Life”. In a span of 108 days, both Indian and international artists will showcase their skills via a variety of mediums such as film, installation, sculpture, new media and art performances. The IN A SPAN OF 108 DAYS, BOTH INDIAN AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WILL SHOWCASE THEIR SKILLS VIA A VARIETY OF MEDIUMS SUCH AS FILM, INSTALLATION, SCULPTURE, NEW MEDIA AND ART PERFORMANCES. first edition of Kochi Biennale was organized in 2012, and it exhibited works of 89 artists from 23 countries around the world. Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an international exhibition of contemporary art which conducts seminars, workshops and educational reform programmes and is also the biggest of its kind in the whole of Asia. The exhibition has benefited Kochi the most by giving it a prominent space in the maps of the International Biennale fests. The public funding of Kochi Biennale can be seen as an investment for encouraging more creative innovations. The events this year will be held at multiple venues across Kochi such as Aspinwall House, Cabral Yard, David Hall, Pepper House and so forth. January 2019 Tourism India 11
