FEATURED ARTISAN

PINK PANTHER TATTOO

Davis Fultz found his way to Fernie after studying for a BA in Vancouver and then transferring to the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson where he specialized in blacksmithing and welding . Following a brief stint in Montreal he returned to the west and chose Fernie where friends were living at the time . Originally from Boise , Idaho , he was encouraged as an artist by his grandma Jessie , a painter , sister Dominique , a graphic designer , and mom , Susan . Recognizing that tattooing could be a way to make a living through art , he found an apprenticeship with Becka Macdonald of the former renowned Poison Apple Tattoo studio in Fernie where he worked alongside Kent King , later working with Liam Monahan of Cryptic Hive .
Branching out on his own , Fultz began tattooing from a space at Sparrow Hair , opening Pink Panther Tattoo in 2019 where he works alongside Drew Hampson , aka Happy Stab . While he loves the simple American traditional style – distinctive and easily recognized from a distance – he says it ’ s important to be flexible and offer a range of styles , especially in a small community . Recently , demand has increased for
fine line tattoos and Japaneseinspired designs , while our natural surroundings are also a constant source of inspiration .
Offering pop-up and flash events at the studio and at Edge of the World Board Shop on 2nd Ave , he also occasionally guests at Devotion Tattoo when he returns to his hometown in Idaho . With girlfriend Maddy , he enjoys road trips and camping and makes the most of Fernie ’ s slopes and trails on his mountain bike or snowboard during his free time .
Drop by the studio or book a tattoo session for a cool memento of your time in Fernie !
