Has Porte still got it in him?
A question hangs over Richie Porte, new leader of the Trek-Segafredo team:
is he still a Grand Tour rider? Aft er his fi fth place in 2016, he was forced to
abandon due to crashes in 2017 and 2018. He is a very good rider in one-
week races but we haven’t had any further evidence over the past two years of
what he’s capable of over three weeks. It’s diffi cult to assess his prospects...
This team also features Bauke Mollema, who’s brave but doesn’t seem to me
to be capable of fi nishing in the top fi ve. There’s another enigma in Jarlinson
Pantano. The team will also go for stage wins with John Degenkolb.
