GARD (30)
This stage will go down in history as the
first time that riders crossed the Pont du
Gard. The photographers will be in their
element... When it is broadcast across the
world, it will undoubtedly provide a beautiful
impression of France, and that alone will
guarantee that this stage is a success. The
rest of this loop starting and finishing in
Nîmes lies entirely within the department
of Gard and should give the sprinters the
chance to take centre stage again. That’s
unless the wind gets up…Let’s not forget
the echelons that caused no end of damage
on the road into Montpellier in 2016.
