In other words, we’re giving the peloton a straightforward test for the return to action aft er the fi rst rest day. This is a deliberate choice in order to enable the riders to preserve their resources before the trio of Pyrenean stages and the individual time trial. Consequently, what was true in Albi will still be the case in Toulouse. In their quest for the green jersey, the pure sprinters will defi nitely have to score points! That’s because, beyond this point, they will only have two more opportunities – in Nîmes and on the Champs-Élysées.
