We’re heading for Albi having tracked diagonally across France through the Vosges and the Massif Central. Who will win this stage? A sprinter or a baroudeur? The question is well worth asking: 217.5km on a leg-breaking route may in theory favour a breakaway group more than a peloton that’s expecting a sprint finish. What is certain is that the battle between the contenders for the green jersey will be closely watched because any points earned in Albi could weigh heavily in the final analysis.
