TIME TO HIT the Trails

The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run offers trail enthusiasts a chance to experience the beauty and challenge of Table Mountain’ s iconic trails as part of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Powered by BYD experience.

The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Powered by BYD Trail Runs showcase the very best of trail running in the Western Cape. Runners can look forward to breathtaking yet challenging routes on the world-renowned Table Mountain, an iconic global landmark and one of the New7Wonders of Nature. The routes are carefully curated to deliver an exceptional trail running experience in one of the most scenic natural environments in the world.

Taking place at the University of Cape Town on Friday 10 April, this will be the 13th edition of the Trail Run, and the 2026 event once again features two action-packed distances – approximately 16km and 24km – weaving through some of the Mother City’ s most breathtaking and demanding terrain.

START BATCHES
The 24km race will start at 7am, with batches going off at five-minute intervals until 7h25, while the 16km race starts at 8am, with batches going off at five-minute intervals until 8h25. There will be hydration stations for the 16km runners at 4.2km, 8.8km. 10.6km and 12.5km. The 24km route will offer hydration stations at 5.2km, 9.7km. 16.6km and 20.5km.
CUT-OFFS
Cut-off times will be enforced on race-day, with a route cut-off at the Block House at 12h00, and an overall final cut-off at the finish at 14h00. Runners who do not meet the designated cut-off times on race-day will either be directed to the finish along a shorter route or transported back to the finish venue, depending on the location of the cut-off point. Additional cut-offs may be implemented on race day, depending on the prevailing weather conditions.
COMPULSORY SAFETY KIT
All runners are required to carry the following items:
• Waterproof jacket with a hood or a windbreaker
• Beanie or buff
• Space blanket
• Whistle
• Container with a minimum of 1 litre of water
• Basic food supplies( sufficient for at least 5 hours)
• Cell phone( fully charged and kept dry)
• Basic first aid kit
• Waterproofing for your kit
• Race number( must be visible at all times for safety purposes)
• Navigation device with the race route pre-loaded( GPS device, smartwatch, or mobile app). Please ensure your device is tested beforehand and has sufficient battery life for the full duration of the event.
