International and Rest-of-Africa entrants of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD are invited to take part in a relaxed 4.5km shake-out run or walk in the lead-up to the Ultra and Half Marathons. The Cape Town International Friendship Run route is a relaxed run through the City of Cape Town – globally celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and vibrant tourism appeal. Affectionately known as the“ Mother City,” Cape Town is regularly ranked among the top cities in the world.
The International Friendship Run is the perfect prelude to the“ world’ s most beautiful marathon” and South Africa’ s largest running event, with breathtaking ocean views, great vibes, and the unmistakable energy of Cape Town. Participants can connect with fellow runners from around the globe, embrace the # TTOM spirit, and proudly represent your country by running with your national flag or kit. Participants may also invite up to two family members or friends to join, for a nominal fee.
“ We are incredibly proud of the International Friendship Run and the special role it plays in welcoming runners from around the world to Cape Town. It’ s more than just a warmup – it’ s a celebration of global unity, shared passion, and the unique spirit that makes the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD so memorable,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC.
Building on this sense of global connection, Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD, highlights how the International Friendship Run gives participants a first taste of the weekend’ s excitement:“ The International Friendship Run creates a relaxed and uplifting space for visiting athletes to meet, move, and soak up the energy of Cape Town before race day. It’ s a meaningful first chapter of the race weekend journey and a wonderful showcase of the welcoming atmosphere that defines the Two Oceans experience.”
