RACE INFO
7 HALF MARATHON START
7.1 The Half Marathon will have 23 Batches from Elites and Batch A down to Batch Y. Batches A-P will be in Group 1, running in descending alphabetical order from the start line, while Batches Q-Y will be in Group 2, lining up in descending alphabetical order from the Dean Street intersection on Main Road. Take note of the following instructions
• Group 1 start chutes open at 04h30 and close at 06h00. If you are not in your start chute by 06h00, you will be required to load behind Batch P( at Dean Street), and your official race time will begin with the gun time of Batch P.
• Group 2 start chutes open at 04h30 and close at 06h20. These batches will begin moving forward shortly after 06:20, so if you are not in your chute by then, you will be required to load behind Batch Y, and your official race time will begin with the gun time of Batch Y.
7.2 All Blue Number Club( BNC) members and Yellow Number runners are seeded into a dedicated BNC Batch L( qualifying times between 2:15 and 2:30) or BNC Batch S( qualifying times slower than 2:30). This includes Half Marathon runners with a Blue Number in the Ultra Marathon). There are some exceptions:
• BNC runners with a qualifying marathon time faster than 2:15 have been seeded into Batches A – K, based on your qualifying time.
• BNC runners who are seeded in Batches A – K, but prefer to start in the dedicated BNC Batch L, may move back. Your official race time will then begin with the gun time of Batch L.
7.3 Start Sequence
• 06h00 – Pre-race ceremonies commence
• 06h15 – Official race start( Elites and Batch A)
• 06h16 – Athletes in wheelchairs( AW) start immediately after Batch A
• 06h18 – Subsequent batches from B to Y will start at 2-minute intervals
• Note: Once Batch A has started, Batches B – Y will begin moving forward
8 PACESETTERS
8.1 Official Two Oceans Pacesetters will be running both the Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon to assist fellow runners to achieve their target times or make it to the finish before one of the cut-off times.
• There will be a total of 41 pacesetters in the Ultra Marathon, aiming for target times from 4:30 to sub-7:00 to make it home before the final cut-off.
• There will be a total of 28 pacesetters in the Ultra Marathon, aiming for target times from 4:30 to sub-7:00 to make it home before the final cut-off.
8.2 These pacesetters are easily identifiable and will carry flags indicating the target finish time they are running. Runners are encouraged to join a group that best matches their desired pace.
8.3 Due to the batched starting procedure for both the Ultra and Half, the pacesetters will also start in staggered groupings, calculated to correspond to the likely target times of the batch they are seeded in.
8.4 There may be multiple pacesetters running the same target pace, but starting in different groups, in order to help runners in various seeding batches achieve popular target times and specific medal cut-offs, such as sub-6:00 in the Ultra.
See More: Go to page 75 for more info on the Official Two Oceans Pacesetters, including the starting batches and target times of the pacesetters.
7.4 All Half Marathon runners have 3 hours 30 minutes to complete the race to be recognised as official finishers. Your race time will start from the starting gun of the batch that you start in, and your timing chip on your race number will register your starting time when you cross the start line.
7.5 All medal cut-offs and the final 3:30 cut-off are based on your batch gun start time.

ON THE ROUTE
1 ROUTE MAPS
1.1 Please study the route map carefully ahead of race day and familiarise yourself with the course. Be sure to follow all instructions from marshals along the route at all times.
1.2 Please note: In the event of a natural disaster or other major incident( such as a fire on Chapman’ s Peak), any changes to the race route will be promptly communicated and widely shared, including via WhatsApp. We work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure a safe and seamless transition should adjustments be required.
See More: Go to page 72 for detailed route maps of the Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon, including kilometre markings, hydration stations, medical stations, and more.
2 HYDRATION STATIONS
2.1 Hydration is key to your race-day success. With 19 hydration stations on the Ultra Marathon route and 7 on the Half Marathon route, your needs will be well supported.
2.2 At each station, you will find water, Coca-Cola and Powerade, served in clearly colour-coded cups for easy identification.
2.3 Due to the higher runner density at the early stages of the race, water sachets will be used at the first hydration points only – specifically, the first two stations on the Ultra Marathon and the first station on the Half Marathon.
2.4 Stay hydrated, but avoid overhydration. Drink when you feel thirsty and allow your training to guide your intake. Be sure to adjust your fluid consumption according to the weather conditions on race day, and avoid experimenting with unfamiliar drinks.
2.5 Oversized disposal bins and clearly marked waste zones will be positioned after each station to support responsible waste management. We ask all runners to dispose of cups and sachets in these designated areas.
See More: Go to page 70 for more detailed info on hydration stations, including what they will stock and what side of the road they will be positioned on.
