RACE INFO
3 PUBLIC TRANSPORT
3.1 Due to the limited parking at the Start, we encourage runners to make use of public transport, or share lifts as far as possible to alleviate the congestion on the roads on race day.
3.2 If using an e-hailing service or being dropped off before the Start, we recommend the following drop points:
• From Cape Town: Corner of Main Road and Rouwkoop Road – walk straight to the back of the chute.
• From Claremont or the Southern Suburbs: Corner of Main Road and Draper Road, before Virgin Active / Protea Road – follow the Virgin Active parking path.
3.3 Runners are urged to make use of the Metrorail services to travel to and from the race, as this is a safe, convenient and reliable way to get to the race, and eliminates any concerns about traffic or parking.
• Dedicated special trains for runners and supporters will depart from various stations and head to Newlands Station, which is walking distance from the Start.
• Dedicated special trains for runners and supporters will return them to their original departure point after the race.
• Runners and supporters can get on and off these trains at any station along the way of the various routes.
• Ultra Marathon spectators can also travel down to St James Station to support their runners, and then return to the finish.
• Post-race, runners and supporters can catch their return trains from Newlands Station or from the Rosebank and Rondebosch Stations, which are closer to the Finish venue.
• Return tickets will cost as little as R20.
• Race Day Metrorail Tickets can be purchased from the Prasa Train Ticket counter at Registration.
3.4 Once you have been dropped off by your lift or e-hailing vehicle, or you have arrived by train, there are a number of recommended walking routes to the Start, and marshals will guide you to your start group and batch.
See More: Go to page 62 for more info on the Metrorail services, including a direct link to the timetables so that you can plan your journey to the Start.
