“ I think no matter what you do , even if it is your dream job , even if your job is to just ride roller coasters all day , like at some point , you get the feeling , and most of the time it ’ s not validated by anything , but you get the feeling that the grass is greener somewhere else .”
This is a snapshot in time and get it out to our fans , you know , for us being on what ’ s essentially our seventh album . It ’ s just refreshing , because it ’ s not more of the same . It allows a much , much , much shorter lag time between when we finish . And we ’ ve been doing this all in house . Everybody ’ s been engineering their own parts . We ’ ve been song writing together , then I ’ ve been doing the mixing and mastering . Oh yeah ! The amount of time between me turning in the masters to the label , and fans being able to hear music ?.. I mean , we ’ re talking weeks you know . So it ’ s exciting , too , because I think it ’ s as the cliche goes , music is the universal language . Language is how you communicate . For us , like our releases , the music that we put out into the world is part of a conversation that we ’ re having with our fans , rather than sending emails and waiting for emails in the form of an album , or sending text messages in the forms of singles , we can release new music every few weeks . While touring is not a thing for us , that ’ s how we can still keep that conversation with our fans going , had to go out of your way to try and be connected and know what ’ s going on at all times outside of your circle . Now , you don ’ t even have to try . You have to kind of live under a rock to not know what ’ s going on in some capacity . Just in general , people just know . I don ’ t know , maybe it ’ s like a garden of Eden type situation , and people just know too much now . I also think that you do have just as much carefree spirit in the music , you know ? That ’ s interesting , but I don ’ t think every song has to be for a band like us . I think what our fans sort of expect is music that ’ s maybe more introspective , and it ’ s more of an emotionally cathartic thing rather than a party band . Some of my favorite bands are party bands , like shout out to the “ Bad Rabbits ”. I think it ’ s cool , because I think you have different art for different sort of experiences , different soundtracks for different scenes .
Does too much self-awareness in today ’ s songwriting take away from the enjoyment and simplicities of Rock and Roll ?
AARON : You know , I think that music and art are more reflective of what ’ s going on around us . I think that there isn ’ t as much party to be had in 2021 , as there was in the 80s . I think because of the internet , it was easier to maybe be more carefree in the past , because we weren ’ t so interconnected . Just as a species , as human beings . Our experiences we thought were more universal , because we weren ’ t aware of the fact that everything is so unique . We weren ’ t aware of the fact that like , you know , how many people knew what was going on and geopolitics during the 1980s . It ’ s not because people were ignorant , but it ’ s because back in the day , you
