make a difference day

Despite the wintry conditions on Sunday, December 13, the Volunteer Effort for " Make a Difference Day " in southern Ohio proved to be a success. Volunteers showed up at our location ready to be a force for good, even with heavy snowfall. These individuals demonstrated their commitment to their community and to helping others. The project took place in partnership with Saturday Hoops, which offers children in Cincinnati, Ohio, mentoring opportunities and participation in enriching activities. Volunteers worked with the children for three hours and participated in various activities such as basketball, arts and crafts, and having discussions with every child about things that were important to them. Volunteers built great relationships with the children and provided them with a fun and supportive atmosphere.
The use of teamwork, encouragement, and hands-on involvement with the children allowed this project to boost the children ' s confidence and strengthen life skills associated with cooperation, communication, and respect. For the volunteers, this project improved their understanding and appreciation of what mentoring and serving others is about. Members were able to give back to the community while strengthening relationships within our organization, and the children benefited from positive role models and a safe, supportive environment that encouraged growth and selfexpression. Overall, the project created a positive and lasting experience for everyone who participated.
