English Oratory
Are you a great public speaker? Or just great at winning arguments with friends? If yes, English Oratory is for you! A creative arts contest due by video submission before convention, English Oratory is a persuasive speech memorized and delivered to the camera. You can pick any topic you’ re passionate about, and make your case! It can be scholarly, comedic, or even satire.
Publication
Publication is a cooperative club projects where a club compiles articles into a magazine, newspaper, or other publication. This is a great way for your club to show off their writers, research projects, or even art!
Service
Service is a unique club project that can be worked on throughout the year, not just leading up to convention, by documenting service projects and logging hours into a tracker found on the OJCL website. The club who has spent the most time per capita positively impacting their communities wins!
DripDrop
A preconvention project first introduced at the 2025 OJCL convention, a DripDrop is a short form video following a theme( this year the theme is Augery!). The name is actually a pun, since romans had water clocks, that went drip drop instead of tik tok.( get it?)
Presentation
One of the most unique( and unknown) projects at convention! It was also introduced last year, and isn’ t for sweepstakes points, but is a great way to show off your knowledge to your fellow JCLers. A presentation can be done individually or as a group, and must have some kind of visual aid. The winners of the contest present their submissions during club project viewing on Friday night of convention, so even if you don’ t submit yourself, make sure to come down to the Buckeye room to support your friends and watch some awesome presentations!
