Winter 2025 · Torch: U.S. · OFFICER VOICES

Heus y'all and Io Saturnalia!

Aside from cooking up some of the best college essays on the planet, I have had a blast in my senior year and the start of my year as parliamentarian. I was not only thrilled to meet the other officers at the Fall Planning Meeting and tour the incredible Indiana campus, but also I'm excited about all that my term has entailed so far. I've been rolling out the NJCL parliamentarian mailing lists and constitutional essays, working on amendments, and expressing my one and only passion to the other officers, Robert's Rules of Order.

I hope as the JCL year gets underway with certamina, conventions, and returning to our home away from home, that we all (including me!) achieve two important goals: have the best, most ambitious, year in the JCL of our lives, and remember to (or tell others to) run for NJCL office, especially the best position on the board: parliamentarian.

That's it from me. Hope y'all are having a great year!

Salvete Omnes!

I hope y'all have been having a great Winter (it's been getting pretty cold here in Georgia). I know I've been having so much fun as your Historian, seeing everyones POTM submissions and seeing all the lively JCLs across the country have been a joy. Just as a reminder, POTM submission dates have been moved to the end of the month (submit to the POTM contest here). I've been finishing up the 2025 convention history and I have opened submissions for the NJCL art catalog! This is a great opportunity to showcase your work so please consider submitting (submit to the catalog here).

Furthermore, I've had the pleasure of attending Fall Planning Meeting at Indiana University where I had a great time with the board. The IU campus is full of greenery and very beautiful, I know it will be an amazing place for the 2026 National Convention next year (I'm already getting excited)!

Have a great Saturnalia and holiday season. Don't be afraid to reach out to me at historian@njcl.org with any questions, comments, or concerns!
