Since Nationals, the Florida Junior Classical League has been buzzing with activity and anticipation! To start off, 8 student leaders have been chosen to serve as representatives for their respective region. These regional leaders ensure that the FJCL’s values are displayed across the state by spearheading service projects including sock drives and hurricane relief, along with ensuring participation by connecting with club presidents and members. In September, the FJCL officers gathered together to outline plans for two of the most anticipated events of the year: Fall Forum and State Forum. This was particularly special because this is the first year that State Forum will be held at a completely new hotel venue. The Wyndham resort will be surely missed, but the Orlando DoubleTree is here to stay!

In November, FJCL members had a blast at Fall forum where we took tests, played Certamen, and engaged in ludi and workshops. Additionally, the FJCL has hosted monthly game nights as a chance to relax and engage in friendly competition to strengthen community ties. A few select FJCLrs have also shown their knowledge through Latin League, climbing the ranks to the top! Overall, the FJCL is looking forward to an exciting year!

Salvete omnes!

The MDJCL has had quite a busy few months; 15 of us (counting our fantastic State Chairs) attended Nationals this summer, the largest group since the pandemic. On the state level, we’ve renamed the position of Historian to ‘Archivist’, launched a yearlong spirit contest (The Bryn Mawr School and Easton High School are currently in the lead), introduced our first-ever Officers-at-Large, and published three issues of our Torch! So far, we’ve held a scavenger hunt at the Walters Art Museum and a Ghost-Stories-Themed Certamen at the University of Maryland, College Park, and we’ve got four more events planned for the year! Ad maiora!
