Hello delightful JCLers!

We are Classics for Kids, a group of Latin enthusiasts from The Harker School in San Jose, California, hoping to spread a love of classics and the Latin language. We do this by offering lessons for elementary school children (around grades 1-5) to instill this interest in the classics at an early age.

Our lessons range from myth to culture, and to further interest the children, we have an activity (usually arts and crafts) for them to bring home a fun representation of what they learned. Some past lessons include the 7 kings of Rome, the Trojan War, and the monuments of Rome, and some activities include sock stuffed animals, yarn dolls, and paper chariots! If you have any other ideas, please consider joining us :)

We are currently looking for volunteers who might want to help out! In-state volunteers could help out in-person at our bi-weekly sessions (if driving to San Jose is a reasonable commute, of course), but those outside of state can still aid us with social media, design, and curriculum/activities-making! We have four committees: curriculum/activities, media, marketing, and operations.

Everyone is welcome to join, regardless of experience in any of the aforementioned roles or Latin, so feel free to sign up to be a volunteer or join our mailing list! We hope to see new faces!

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at

ancientclassics4kids@gmail.com, and follow us at

@classics_for_kids on Insta for more updates.

Long live Latin!

Pleasantly,

Classics for Kids :)

Here is a fun shenanigan that occurred at one of our lessons. We decided to act out a critical scene in the founding of Rome. William Jiang and Pascal Qin (pictured) are Romulus and Remus... We'll let you image what commenced :) As you can see, we are VERY fun people!!
