hear from peers across the NJCL!

Salvete omnes!

The Alabama JCL recently held its 71st annual convention on February 6th - 7th, 2025. AJCLers had the opportunity to participate in events such as impromptu art, Pandora’s break out boxes, olympika, and academic testing! The executive board enjoyed seeing the AJCLers singing the NJCL song in harmony and interacting with each other during the various events.

As the school year slowly begins to wrap up, the AJCL executive board has a few more things for the AJCLers. Firstly, we began to plan out our National Classics Week state activities. A classic AJCL tradition is the Roman cake off, where AJCLers make cakes to celebrate Rome’s birthday, as well as the Remembering Rome quiz – 50 multiple choice questions about the Eternal City. This year, the officers plan to add a few more activities for the AJCLers to complete, like an AJCL bingo. Secondly, elections will be rolling around in early May, and we have decided to add a new position to the executive board – the editor. While most states have had publications for a while now, the AJCL started Dicamus (our publication) this fall. Our Second Vice President took care of it for this year, but we all agreed to create the official office of editor for the upcoming election and future years. Lastly, the AJCL executive board is beginning to promote National Convention to the AJCLers! With an officer in the iconic Senator Rex costume walking around the dance floor and demonstrating one of Alabama’s nationals cheers to the crowd during the state convention, the executive board is hyping everyone up for nationals this summer! Can’t wait to see everyone there!

What does your state JCL have that you're sure no other JCL does? Senator Rex!!

Salvete omnes!

It’s finally spring, and the days are starting to grow longer here in Alaska! We reached out to the schools that took the NLE. They did seem interested but wanted to have a better sense of what the JCL was. After some deliberation, we produced a flyer promoting the AKJCL and the 2025 National Convention! Along the way, we found some closer homeschool groups that offer Latin, so we sent it out to them as well! Because of the flyer and word-of-mouth, we have 3 more people excited to join the AK JCL! We hope to bring more Alaskans to the 2025 National Convention!

How many members does your state have? 7 - Woohoo!

When was your state JCL founded?Founded in the fall of 2022!

What's unique about the AKJCL? We have auroras frequently, especially in winter!
