With this award, we honor Mr. Dennis Bartlow of Indiana for his 51 years of dedicated service to the NJCL. He has served the organization on every level— as a national officer; an advisor to the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and indispensible NSCL; a member of the NJCL National Committee; and state chair for Indiana JCL. Although he wasn't a Latin teacher, he dedicated his life to the Classics.Though he passed away in May 2013, his passion for the classics continues to inspire us all. This award covers the NJCL Convention cost, with up to $500.00 for travel expenses. A hearty congratulations to: Salem Thompson from Madison Central High School, Kentucky.

Dennis Bartlow Award

An enthusiastic, selfless, and dedicated Latin teacher, Ms. Nancy Howell of Tennessee has worked hard for many years to support her students in their endeavors. As a mentor to her local JCL chapter, she has inspired many students to be more involved in their classical studies. As a way to give thanks for her zealous efforts, Mr. Joseph DeHarde created this award in 2012 so that other students could experience similar opportunities as her. This award covers the cost of convention for a senior who has been to at least two NJCL conventions and their sponsor. A hearty congratulations to: Jennifer He and sponsor Alan Farnsworth from Walton High School, Georgia.

This award is dedicated to Ms. Sherri Cox of North Carolina, who pushes her students to do their best work, explore new things, and be comfortable outside their comfort zones. The winners of the Sherri Cox Convention Packet Award have four entries in at least three of the five main categories: Graphic Arts, Academic Testing, Creative Arts, Certamen, and Olympika. With this award, one student and one sponsor or chaperone win a free convention packet and up to $500 in travel expenses. A hearty congratulations to this year's winners Ryan Parker from The Country's School, Maryland, and Julie Zammit from Holy Trinity Classical Christian School, South Carolina.
