"The past few months have been filled with classical excitement in the state of Pennsylvania. Local JCLs across the state hosted Ides of March celebrations to remember the death of Julius Caesar, with Harriton making “bloody cupcakes” and re-enacting the event and Upper Dublin hosting an Ides of March-themed Murder Mystery party! Later in the month, Sandy Run Middle School paid a visit to the Penn Museum and learned more about ancient civilizations. In April, a number of schools, after preparing an astounding array of art and writing projects, came together for a day of fun at the Capital Area Classics Festival.
April also featured the second-ever Penn Certamen tournament, which welcomed over 40 teams from not only Pennsylvania, but also 5 other states! The event was organized by
students and faculty from Penn’s Department of Classical Studies along with students and
teachers from Harriton High School. The day was filled with friendly competition and fun as students battled each other in rounds of Certamen and were also given the opportunity to explore the Penn Museum. Last but certainly not least, PAJCL has been hard at work preparing for our state convention, which is coming up on May 18th-19th, and ending the year on a strong note!"
