THANK YOU!

After a successful return to in-person convention at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette last year, those returning to NJCL convention were looking forward to the memories that were made again, this time at Emory University. For the convention newbies, it was the excitement of fun and camaraderie that brought them to journey out to Atlanta. The success of this year’s convention was made possible by the many names working tirelessly behind the scenes throughout the past year. With that, there are some people to recognize and thank.

To Emory University and the Georgia State Board, thank you for being such gracious hosts. Thank you for your time and flexibility in working with the NJCL to bring us all together for a fun and memorable week once again. The JCL will remember you for your sloth costume appearances, seemingly endless food options in the dining hall, and how beautiful campus was during sunset. You brought the JCLove to your backyard, spreading it to the entire organization.

To the 2022-2023 Executive Board, thank you for bringing together the NJCL for yet another unforgettable week. Your work ensures the JCL Family continues to grow bigger and stronger together each year. Convention would never run so smoothly without your efforts. Thank you for keeping spirits light-hearted with Nolan’s new attire during General Assembly V and Dr. Sangco-Jackson’s stretch break while reading aloud rules during the long hours of sitting inside WoodPEC.

To the sponsors and chaperones, thank you for taking a week out of your summer. Whether it was coaching certamen, ensuring contests ran smoothly, or making sure we were in our rooms by 11:30 P.M., you all embody the spirit of the JCL.

To you, JCLers, this convention has been amazing. There really is something special when you are a so-called “Latin nerd”. I’ve never met people who are so funny, kind, and smart. This week has been so much fun and I hope to see you next year in Tennessee at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville!
