Salvete!
I hope that everyone had a great spring and a wonderful introduction to the summer season! Nationals is only a couple months away; after a couple years on Zoom, we are finally reuniting. I hope that over the course of COVID, the Torch: U.S. has helped some of you feel more connected to the JCL despite being from all over the country. The purpose of such a publication is not just to inform delegates about what is going on behind the scenes but also to highlight how each individual state, chapter, and person is keeping the JCL spirit alive from their own homes.
This past year with you all has been awesome! I will never forget my time here as your very own NJCL Editor. It has been my dream every since I played around with squares and circles on Canva my freshman year, and I know that there are more delegates out there like me that will assume this best position on the NJCL board.
To all the editors out there, our job may be at the bottom of gavel order, but that is no representation of how much work we put in! I've received many submissions for the state and local Publications Contests and am so proud of all of you that have took on the challenge of being editor. Stick with it. There may be a time where submissions are more scarce than toilet paper in 2020, but that makes receiving submissions 100 times more exciting! On the topic of the contest submissions, as I mentioned in my Voices, I will be added a grace period of a couple days to the original June 1, 2022 deadline. To submit, just email your publications to me at [email protected] before the end of the week.
Thank you all for continuing to submit to the Torch: U.S. during my term. Thank you Mr. Turner for teaching me the ways of grammar and for your amazing suggestions. Thank you to my fellow board members for supporting me along the way. I am forever grateful and can't wait to see you all at national convention!
