Salvete, omnes! CAJCL has had a very exciting year! Menlo School hosted our 2021 virtual state convention. It was such a fun two days filled with exciting Kahoots, competitive games of Apud Nos [Among Us in Latin!], intriguing colloquia, an intense bake-off, and many other enriching and community oriented activities. We have also elected our next CAJCL State Board, thanks to the work of Parliamentarian Elizabeth Casey. Our new state officers are Sofia Perez-Lanza and Louise Morr (Convention Presidents), Elizabeth Casey (1st VP), Avery Konwiser (2nd VP), Claire Lenden (Parliamentarian), Alexis Kim (Secretary), Mallika Dandamudi (Historian), Sadie Almgren (Northern Rep.), Ashley Yoshii (Webmaster), and Kayla Davis (Nuntius Editor). Congratulations to our 2021-2022 CAJCL State Board, and a big thank-you to our 2020-2021 CAJCL State Board who worked effortlessly to create an exciting and memorable year! We are very excited for some new updates to our website, the publication of the next Nuntius Californiensis, and we have loved seeing the scrapbook created by Historian Sadie Almgren. Lastly, we said farewell to our CAJCL State Chair of 25 years, Martha Altieri. Her presence and constant effort to improve CAJCL has been invaluable, and we will miss her greatly. Additionally, we are also excited for our next State Chair, Matt Davis, to continue Ms. Altieri’s legacy and carry us into the next decade. CAJCLers are also excited to see everyone this summer for nationals 2021!

Things are going well for the AZJCL down here in the sunny state of Arizona. We recently had our state convention, a fun-filled two days of competition. While it was unfortunately online over Zoom, we still managed to have a great convention, with many members growing closer through our variety of virtual activities. We've had some smaller events since then, such as a Certamen tournament, and we had a great time celebrating National Classics Week. Currently, we're all very excited for nationals, studying for tests and preparing projects. See you all there!
