Ohio has accomplished a lot this year! We had a great showing at NJCL Convention, winning many awards and having a lot of fun. Plus, OJCLer Andrew Cahall was elected NJCL Communications Coordinator! After NJCL Convention, the school year started and our activities started to kick into full swing. In Cincinnati, the OJCL participated in the Walk to Defeat ALS, raising money and awareness to fight ALS. Of course, all the local clubs have been busy with their own events, from bake sales to classics Halloween festivities. Certamen season is about to begin, and so will our service events. But, the highlight of our fall was the OJCL Fall Forum. Fall Forum is our mini OJCL convention, filled with Certamen, tests, speakers, and more. We spend only a day (we have a 2 ½ day OJCL Convention), but still forge friendships and have plenty of fun! We look forward to a successful year and hope all of the NJCL has a successful year, too!

Salvete, omnes! The Pennsylvania Junior Classical League has so many exciting things cooking up for this school year. After careful consideration, we chose the new site for our 69th annual state convention! We will be doing a complete takeover of the Lock Haven University Campus. Through this location change, we will be seeing a comeback of some of our favorite classical activities, one of which is our beloved catapult contest. New access to LHU’s incredible facilities means more Latin-themed celebration! Last year’s convention was chock-full of fun. Personally, I don’t think I’ve ever participated in any convention more than I did last year between campaigning for office, performing the Latin version of “Rap God” in the entertainment show, running in the sprint competition, and much more. And many of my other PAJCL comrades have said the same. These activities are just a drop in the bucket of events and other festivities our state convention allows us to take part in. The rest of the PAJCL Executive Board and I cannot wait to keep that same spark alive and growing for our upcoming convention. Another event we here in PA are looking forward to is this year’s national convention being hosted at the University of Richmond! We are absolutely thrilled NJCL Convention is so close to us. For many of us, it will be our first national convention. It is only about a seven-hour car ride for the farthest of us. Some schools in our state have already begun organizing groups of interested parties and planning for large scale transport to the university. We cannot wait to meet all the JCLers from around the country! So, if you see us there, come say salve!

Tennessee had an absolute blast at NJCL Convention. Everyone enjoyed themselves and this spirit has rolled over into the start of the year. Both East and West Tennessee have their local conventions coming up very soon. East Tennessee is gearing up for Knoxville Latinfest while West Tennessee is getting ready for Fall Festivus. This year at Fall Festivus, the officers in West Tennessee are hosting a book drive to donate to a learning library for children in underprivileged areas. Middle Tennessee is also starting to look forward to Midstate Convention coming up in February. The TJCL Fall Torch was also released in October. It’s a very exciting time to be a TJCLer right now!

Since fall, the TSJCL has been working hard to prepare for the upcoming Area conventions and the Texas State convention. At the Fall Board Meeting, the TSJCL officers met together to discuss events and rules for the Texas conventions, such as the guidelines for art contests. Everyone is collaborating and teaming up to develop a fun year for the TSJCL!
