Andrade of North Carolina, and Elizabeth Foster of Wisconsin received nominations from the floor. Emma Burbach and Elizabeth Foster were voted onto the ballot.

With Nominations Committee completed, candidates had 48-hours to campaign at events around campus, from agora to the dance, from Minard Hall to the Memorial Union and the Fargodome. Accepting business cards and personalized tags, following Instagram accounts and websites, and observing posters and fliers, JCLers received an abundance of campaign materials featuring candidates’ qualifications and platforms.

At Meet the Candidates, JCLers interacted with candidates, casually asking them questions about their experience and the logistical sides of their platforms. Candidates then gave speeches to all convention attendees at the third general assembly. On the final day of campaigning, candidates gathered for the last election event, Open Forum, in which the 2018-2019 Board asked their own and submitted questions to their potential successors. Immediately upon the completion of Open Forum, JCLers gathered with their states for voting fellowship, during which they discussed the merits of each candidate and cast their votes. In the hour following, state fellowships cast votes.

During the fourth general assembly, the outgoing board announced the election results:

Editor Elizabeth Foster of Wisconsin, Historian Jason Juang of Georgia, Communications Coordinator Andrew Cahall of Ohia, Parliamentarian Faith Woods of Louisiana, 2nd Vice President Athena Davis of California, 1st Vice President Andrew Saverance of South Carolina, and President Jocelyn Robertson of Virginia.

Many thanks go to the prepared candidates, knowledgeable delegates, and invested JCLers for allowing the election season to run smoothly. The JCL’s future is a result of all those who are interested in the election process, so be informed and opinionated, but open-minded. The 2019-2020 NJCL Board looks forward to a great year serving you!
