today it stands alone. Sadly, the last two towers have been destroyed. One was destroyed by a hurricane, and the other tower was torn down after a lady jumped off of it to her death.
The Operation Bumblebee towers that line Topsail Island today remind us of both the past and the present. They were built at a time when it was very important to further missile and rocket experimentation. I wish I could have seen one of the missiles being fired. The towers served a great
purpose for our country. All the towers still serve purposes today, even if it is just to remind us of their past history on Topsail Island. The next time you visit Topsail Island, see how many of the Operation Bumblebee towers you can find.
