Cleanroom Defined
There’s a reason for this apparent neurosis of course.
Certain industries, such as the semi-conductor industry,
electronic, biotech and related industries do require
minimum contamination within their operating spaces.
And cleanroom gloves (affectionately referred to as “CR
gloves”) which are powder-free, produced and specially
washed and packed in cleanroom environments serve
to ensure low traces of chemical extractable content.
Mention the term “cleanroom” and chances are
images of whitewashed, sterilised environments
come to mind. You’re not far off the mark there, but
let’s get technical for a minute.
A “cleanroom” is a confined space in which the air
must be cleaned to a defined particle limit. What’s
more, it is constructed and used in a manner to
minimise the introduction, generation, and retention
of particles and microbes inside the room.
