Ghoom Monastery, Darjeeling, West Bengal

Ghoom monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in India and
is worth the attention of the visitors due to its unique architecture. The
monastery is situated just 17 km from the picturesque Darjeeling town.
The fifteen feet tall statue of Maitreya Buddha kept inside the monastery
grabs most of the attention. A large oil lamp is placed near the statue
which remains lit all the time. The thangkas, paintings, drums, and bells
are what make this place so inviting.
