Alchi Monastery, Leh

Alchi monastery is a one of the well known Buddhist Monastery of
Ladakh that mesmerizes everyone with its beautiful carvings, paintings,
and murals decorating it. The monastery is one of the four different
Buddhist settlements in Alchi village. The building has a large assembly
hall, temples and a statue of Bodhisattva. The monastery is built on a
flat area rather than on a hilltop as is the case with most Buddhist
monasteries. It also houses a huge idol of Maitreya Buddha which is
worth seeing.
