GRITTY IN PINK • CATALINBREAD KARMA SUTURE • MALEKKO B:ASSMASTER • BOSS DM-2W • STRYMON DIG This flamboyant and festively feminine looking board actually yields some of the most destructive doomscapes on radar. Feeding a sizzling-smooth-crackle-spackle Percolator-style circuit to the mighty Malekko B:Assmaster is something I have been doing for years. This is one of my favorite fuzz pairings of all time. Neither circuit cuts out lows, so bass players can get amongst this dynamic duo as well. The B:Assmaster is a heavily gated octave fuzz, so it tames the extraneous hiss of the Percolator-based circuit. The Malekko also sports a hefty hazy clean blend, so the smooth bubbling sustain of the Karma Suture can be balanced with the squidgy ripping octaves that the B:Assmaster is dishing out. The tonal results are either synth-like and stabbing or as sustained as one likes while holding down a note. 46 TONE TALK // Color Dreams: Change Your Style with Color Coordination
