3 4 More Leads Means More Business Having people “like” your Facebook page isn’t enough in this ever changing digital world. Here’s a thought. What if Facebook disappears one day? If you haven’t made connections with your followers outside of Facebook you would be in trouble. Smart businesses are gathering leads in the form of email addresses — so they can contact their community outside of Facebook. Contests, giveaways and newsletters are all proven systems to enhance your customer outreach and gather this crucial information. Customer Engagement Customer engagement should be the goal for most Facebook posts. The value of that engagement goes well beyond the metrics and it is FREE (unless you’re buying ads and you should be, but we’ll get to that later). Here are some of the ways people are engaging with your post even if Facebook doesn’t tell you they are: Reading your update. A catchy headline will increase the number of people who will read your update and with practice coming up with catchy headlines will be easier. Viewing your image. Photos, infographics, inspirational quotes, etc. are great ways to grab attention, but simply having them seen does not constitute engagement. Clicking on a photo. That’s right, clicking the photo itself does not count as fan engagement according to FB’s numbers. 5 Liking your page. People liking your page is great but doesn’t affect your engagement either. Only when they like your post does it count as an engagement. Lower Your Marketing Expenses First things first, you need to set up a Facebook business page. How much does that cost? Zero, zip, nada. Improving your Facebook business page might mean hiring a graphic artist to design a profile picture and cover photo, etc. but it’s not a necessity. Simply using photographs you take of your business will work — and in some cases that’s better than a creative image from a designer. The bigger idea here is that it’s nothing out of pocket and very simple to just get started in Facebook. Not only that, but just about every feature available on Facebook is FREE until you start paying for ads. Today’s Roofer / June 2015 15
