GMercyU RECEIVES FUNDING FROM PA STATE GEAR UP GRANT GMercyU received the PA State Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs ( GEAR UP ) Grant . GMercyU is one of four colleges , and the only private institution , to receive funding in Pennsylvania .
WISSAHICKON AND GWYNEDD MERCY UNIVERSITY OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP Now in its third year , the Wissahickon and Gwynedd Mercy University Opportunity Scholarship was presented to Wissahickon High School senior Cinai Lazarus . She will join the GMercyU community in fall 2024 to pursue a degree in Early Education to then return to Wissahickon School District as a K-4 teacher . The ceremony was featured on CBS3 .
INTEGRATED STUDIES PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER INSTITUTE Gwynedd Mercy University ’ s Integrated Studies program will host its annual weeklong Summer Institute for rising high school juniors , seniors , or students in a transition program . The two weeklong , residential programs introduce students with intellectual disability to college life .
Dates : June 17 – June 21 , 2024 and July 8 – July 12 , 2024 ( choose one week ) Time : Full day , residential Cost : $ 1,500 Capacity : 8 students per week
PA State GEAR UP Grant provides a cohort of students with academic support , college access , and success services beginning in 7th grade . The 2023-2024 cohort is comprised of students enrolled in 8th and 9th grades in Allentown School District , Norristown Area School District , and Pottstown School District .
GMercyU will host the students this summer , providing academic support in pre-algebra and algebra , and other subjects to help students prepare for high school .

During the program , students will build college-readiness skills and facilitate a transition into college life focused on college-level technologies and skills , career exploration , building social connections , and establishing familiarity with a college campus .
Some activities include self-advocacy , writing workshops , resume building , grocery shopping , meal preparation , public speaking , movie night , community events , and college exploration .
