Honoring the Class of 2020 , COVID-Style 2020 is no ordinary year . The Class of 2020 knows that all too well .
With the COVID-19 pandemic changing the way in which the world operates , traditional in-person Commencement ceremonies had to be postponed or canceled . Although we shared in our students ’ disappointment around having to cancel our traditional in-person ceremonies , we found unique ways to make the most out of an unprecedented scenario – as a community .
For the official graduation date in May , our faculty and staff created videos to share their hopes and well wishes for the graduates . The initial plan was to postpone in-person Commencement ceremonies to August , but COVID-19 had other plans . So our Griffins did what they ’ ve always done : they rose to the occasion and got creative .
To recognize the individual achievements of each graduate in the traditional way , the community came together to create two Virtual Commencement videos for both undergraduate and graduate students . President D ’ Emilio , along with the GMercyU deans recognized the hard work of our Griffins and read each name with their distinctions .
