Despite rising oil prices, higher airfares, and growing living costs, travel demand across the Asia-Pacific region remains remarkably resilient. According to the latest Klook 2026 Travel Pulse Survey, 95% of travelers across the region still plan to travel this year, showing a strong willingness to maintain their travel plans despite economic pressures.

Amid this regional enthusiasm, Taiwan stands out as the most confident outbound market. An impressive 86% of Taiwanese travelers say their confidence in traveling in the second half of 2026 remains the same or even higher than at the start of the year, outperforming the regional average by 14%.

This confidence is also supported by Taiwan’s strong outbound readiness, with passport penetration estimated at around 60%, reflecting a mature and highly travel-ready consumer base in Asia.

At the same time, Taiwanese travelers are becoming increasingly strategic. While 85% acknowledge they have adjusted travel arrangements due to rising costs, the vast majority are refusing to cancel their trips. Instead, they are carefully protecting their original destinations while becoming more intentional in how they allocate their travel budgets, prioritizing experiences, flexibility, and personal relevance.
