The psychiatrist usually advises
young people to take medication
for a minimum of six months to
two years, depending on the young
person’s progress in recovery, the
type of psychotic disorder and the
young person’s day to day coping.
Psychiatrists may slowly decrease
the medication dosage if the young
person does not experience any
relapse during the time he/she is in
medication.

forgets to take medication?
It is not necessary to make up for

they miss a few days of medication.
However, frequent and prolonged
non-adherence to the medication is
strongly discouraged.
