opponents before taking on peren-
nial D-II power Mount Abraham. U-32
knocked off Spaulding, 3-2, in its opener
and suffered a respectable 3-1 loss to
a South Burlington side that had clob-
bered Montpelier. A 2-1 victory on the
road over the Eagles confirmed that
the Raiders are a high-caliber squad.
U-32 is led by captains Ruby Lamb and
Emma Beall. Lamb will occupy the mid-
field and be one of the team’s key playmak-
ers, while Beall will anchor the defense and
be joined in the back by fellow defender
Julia Oliver and goalie Jordon Kellett.
“Those two play really well together,”
Dezan said of Oliver and Beall. “They have
that strong teammate connection.”
The Raiders also feature a number of
freshmen who are expected to see minutes.
Defender Payton Gariboldi, described by
Dezan as “fast” and “coachable,” is a new-
comer who will likely have a big impact.
Fellow freshmen Claire Obell and Caroline
Kirby will play in the midfield.
The Raiders host Northfield-William-
stown under the lights Saturday at 7 p.m.,
in a game that will wrap up U-32’s Home-
coming festivities.
“We have strong postseason goals,”
Dezan said. “We are not putting a wager
on what that is, but watch out for the U-32
