The Red Scare, Letter To The Nation:

Letter to the Nation - “ Many describe the era that we are living as a period of time defined by new inventions, prohibition, jazz music, and a successful economy, but there is a darker side to it that many don’t talk about. I beg the pardon of those who will get offended by my honest words, but these issues and injustices need to be brought to light, and I'm not afraid to do it. As many know, but fear to declare, the KKK has been dominating the South of our Nation and those minorities that they despise, while Communists are suspected for all misdemeanors on a daily basis. I’m not saying that those who support political views against liberalism are to be protected, but we shall stay on guard without accusing our neighbors and the teachers of our children, spreading a fear that is unnecessary. I understand that you, my fellow Americans, are afraid of what might suddenly take over our government, but we need to stay focused and watch each other’s back. I hear too many stories of innocent people getting murdered because of alleged allegations, but what if we’re next? What if our wives or children are the next ones being prosecuted just because of a careless thing that they’ve said to a friend?

Did you know that teachers, the ones living with our children most of the time, working hard to furnish them with the best education that they can give, are being accused as of right now?

For example, Anne Hale was a middle-aged teacher that, instead of running away after the few accusations made on her account, decided to stay in order to demonstrate her students that she was standing up for herself. She admitted to 700 neighbors, judges, and a jury in the Wayland High School auditorium, that she once was a member of the Communist Party, but that was years prior. Hale insisted that she didn’t believe in the overthrow of the government by force and violence, but that she recognized one by majority, like in the Bill of Rights, and in the protection of the right of minorities.

Let’s not travel back in time to a place of witch hunting like in the Salem Witch Trials, but instead stick together. I’m tired of living with fear, and you should be too.
