What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
Listen to music first. Listen to music and if you want to learn an instrument. You can get lessons, that’s all well and good but if you can’t afford it then just listen to music and just sit in your bedroom and just fucking keep going and going and going and practice and just get up on that stage as soon as you can – break that cherry and just fucking go for it man, that’s what I’d say. Fuck the money, fuck the fame. Just have a good time first and foremost. If you get a bit of money, that’s amazing. If you get famous that’s good but just fucking go for it. Just learn, work hard, listen to music and most importantly… enjoy yourself.
What’s next for Them Dead Beats?
More fuzzy music. More loud music. More quiet music. More music. Just music. Music, music. Na seriously, moving forward, making more music, getting it out there on the old interweb and yellow pages. Get out to a wider audience and just keep fucking gigging and get our heads down, stay focused and keep plugging it to fucking everyone. I’ll plug it to a cat on the street. I’m gonna put an EP on a cat and just see who it gets to you know? Just keep fucking shoving it down people’s throats till they can’t take it no more and then just do another recording and give that to them and just gig, gig, gig. Then maybe just sit down and have a nice cup of tea at the end.
You can catch Them Dead Beats live at Gwdihw, Cardiff on the 28th June for their belated EP launch.
its definitely not a night to be missed...
