PRINCE
June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016.
Fans from around the world woke up distraught to the terrible news that Prince had been found unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park home on 21st April 2016. As if 2016 hadn’t been enough of a shit show already. First Bowie, now Prince. All of the martyrs of Rock music now had to be protected at all costs.
But who was Prince and why did he leave such an unmistakeable stamp on the earth when he left us that day?
Part of Prince’s appeal is undoubtedly the mystery that has always surrounded him; The Eighties saw the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson revelling in the gaze of the public eye. But Prince remained covert and innovative. He was on a different level musically, while his contemporaries enjoyed bathing in the lime light; while Prince was continuously making self-indulgent moves of his career – The most famous being changing his name to an unpronounceable symbol in the 1990’s.
