TIM TIM eMagazine eMagazine Vol.2 Vol.1 Issue 5 1 Coast Guard successfully rescues four crew members of two motor vessels P CG: Joint rescue operations of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Caticlan Deployable Response Group (DRG) together with personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay, Special Operation Unit (SOU) – Caticlan and BRP Malabrigo, PCG Multi Role Response Vessel (MRRV-4402) successfully rescued four crew members of M/V Starlite Eagle and M/V Fast Cast M8 at vicinity waters off Barangay Caticlan, Malay, Aklan yesterday, April 14. Reports revealed that a certain Ricardo M Salinas, 23 years old an engine cadet of M/V Fast Cat M8 and a resident of 10th Ave. Grace Park, Caloocan City accidentally fell overboard while disembarking his vessel for a swimming activity due to inclement weather prevailing in Caticlan Anchorage Area. As the said victim was drifting away from his vessel, he managed to cling to the anchor chain of M/V Starlite Eagle, which was also anchored in the same area. M/V Starlite Eagle immediately alerted their crew members who were in Boracay namely Chief Mate Peter Paul Into, 3rd Officer Mark John Donato and A/B Seaman Marvin De Guzman onboard rented Mbca John Mark to conduct necessary assistance to Salinas. However, said motorbanca accidentally capsized due to strong current and rough seas in the area as her outrigger bumped to the anchor chain of M/V Starlite Eagle. PCG joint team immediately arrived at said area and successfully rescued Salinas and the three crew of ill-fated motorbanca who were able to swim and climb at the bulbous bow of M/V Starlite Eagle. Said victims were transferred to BRP Malabrigo and were given immediate medical attention due to obtained minor bruises. They were then brought to CGS Caticlan for further investigation. 15
