Because it ’ s not just a slogan , it ’ s a prayer and a proclamation . From the Hebrew , Am Yisra ’ el Chai translates into English , “ The People of Israel Live .” It is well-known in Jewish culture and celebrates the enduring strength and resilience of the Jewish people .

It affirms that despite the systematic attempts to exterminate and annihilate the Jewish people , but thanks to God ’ s guiding hand , we have stubbornly persevered and have miraculously lived . Am Yisra ’ el Chai is also a prayer , a longing for a united Jewish people living together in safety , security and with unity and harmony .
