Note that when the other men of Manassah made a request in Numbers 36 that the women be required to marry within the tribe to maintain the heritage , the women agreed . They did not have a spirit of entitlement but rather a spirit of honor for their heritage and in that , a sense of responsibility to maintain that heritage . Notice that God ’ s perpetual judgment after these womens ’ request is that any time a man has no son , the daughters are next in line before other men within the extended family . Somehow the passing of the generations within the family took priority .
Those of us endeavoring to raise children in the Messianic faith dearly desire that the faith is passed on to the next generation , and that truly is the heart of the matter . However , the full magnitude of the heritage is rarely appreciated .
Consider how if multiple generations accumulate wealth , not just one fortune is passed on but instead , multiple fortunes . If our spiritual heritage in the faith – whether Jew or Gentile – had been accumulated every generation since Abraham , then the last generation in the end times should be the most spiritually wealthy generation of all . You are the ones with the heritage of Abraham , Isaac , Jacob , Moses , Samuel , David , Elijah , Hezekiah , the Prophets , Ezra , the Apostles , the last two thousand years of diverging faith histories , and most of all Yeshua Himself . Good , bad , and otherwise , your spiritual heritage is a wealth beyond counting !
Lest this be taken in a way that brings undue guilt or shame , I understand that approaching this topic from a perspective of responsibility could make it is easy to miss that the content of that heritage is deep , intimate , holy worship and relationship with God who is merciful , gracious , truthful , just , and kind . Then out of that worship and intimacy comes the spiritual gifts , callings , and manifestations of the power of the Holy Spirit . However , it is because the heritage we have been given in the Kingdom is of such great value that our responsibility is also great . It is because intimacy with God is the very breath of life that we are responsible to guard it . The responsibilities God gives us holds much weight , but they are not burdens .
