Since 2004 , the members of the Keep Tift Beautiful board have been dedicated to ensuring that the City of Tifton and Tift County remain clean , happy , and beautiful places to call home .

Founded on the mission of recycling , beautification , and clean-up around the county , the volunteer-run organization is an affiliate of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation--itself an affiliate of the nationwide Keep America Beautiful nonprofit--and is determined to keep the section of the state and country it oversees as trash-free as possible .
In pursuit of that vision , the board ’ s members are always eager to get to work in keeping the Tiftarea clean , whether it ’ s through volunteer work with community or local government-organized events , such as their regular appearances at the city and county ’ s scrap tire drives , or having the community lend them a hand instead as contributor to their own programs .
One such campaign , the Adopt-A-Mile program , enlists the aid of local organizations and groups of people to monitor , tend to , and clean up an approximate mile of road in the county .
Dr . Gertrude Nakakeeto , chair of the KTB board , reports that the program has received 22 supporters from organizations in the community seeking to make their county a little cleaner , including Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College ’ s ATOM Group and ABAC Agripreneurs , St . Anne ’ s Episcopal Church , and the Exchange Club of Tifton .
