MARCH - APRIL 2014 OF THE MONTH Eileen Cliggott Award EFJ PRESIDENT, BETTY WATES AWARDING ANNE-MARIE ASHER WITH THE EILEEN CLIGOTT AWARD Eileen Cliggot was a racing trainer stationed at Dawkins Farm on Caymanas Race Track. She trained for farm owner Alex Hamilton and ran his stud farm. She was very compassionate and supportive of many of our riders, giving them good horses once they had finished their career in racing. Many of these horses went on to become top Jumpers and Dressage horses. In 2006, the Equestrian Federation felt they wished to honour her, and donated a perpetual trophy to be presented each year to a person that was felt to have contributed the most to our sport within the year. This year, the Eileen Cliggot Award was presented to Anne-Marie Asher for her hard work and dedication to our sport. Congratulations Mrs Asher, your support is greatly appreciated. SADDLE UP! PROUD OF OUR GIRLS IN BARBADOS Jamaica, represented by Claire Schwapp and Annie Stewart, placed second overall in the first leg of the CEA competition in Barbados. The riders, accompanied by Jamaica’s National Coach, Betty Wates, achieved three clear rounds. However, unfortunately in one round Annie was eliminated and Claire received four faults.
